I want to congratulate the SLBCJ its 15th years of successful partnership with this Embassy and its yeomen service extended to promote commercial and economic relationship between the two countries. Let me begin with a “thank you” to the superb team at SLBCJ and your excellent work. The strong commercial partnership that we have built with Japan over the past 15 years would not be the same without SLBCJ patronage and support.
I wish to mention that promoting economic growth in Sri Lanka is one of top priorities as Sri Lanka Ambassador to Japan. I and whole Embassy staff will do everything within our power to advance this objective and I reckon that we want to work with SLBCJ to do so.
Every one of you at the SLBCJ represents a success story. Your businesses and networks are the building blocks of our commercial partnership with Japan and of our two countries’ prosperity.
I wish all the success for new team at the SLBCJ and I have no doubt you would be a formidable partner in progress of our two country relations in coming future.

I wish to extend my best wishes to the members of the Sri Lanka Business Council in Japan [SLBCJ] in their untiring endeavours in promoting trade and investment between Sri Lanka and Japan.
Since the inception of the Council in 2003, its members have worked closely with the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Tokyo and have organized and been involved in a number of events which included the recent Tokyo Motor Summit and the Investors Forum held in Tokyo in 2011.
The Business Council also worked very closely with the Embassy in the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake of 11th March, 2011. The commitment of its members and the assistance offered at all times is greatly appreciated.
I convey my best wishes to the incumbent President Mr. Tilak Chandra and wish to commend the commitment of the Council under his leadership.
I wish the SLBCJ great success in all its endeavours and hope that the Council will be able to further expand its membership thereby further enhancing trade relations between Sri Lanka and Japan.

I wish to congratulate the members of the Sri Lanka Business Council of Japan (SLBCJ) on their remarkable achievements in promoting trade investment and tourism between Sri Lanka and Japan since its formation in October 2003.
In that regard, I recall with pleasure the support and cooperation extended by the SLBCJ for organizing the annual Sri Lanka Festival, two major business seminars during the visits of Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka in June and H.E. the President of Sri Lanka in December 2007 and many other promotional events undertaken by the Sri Lanka Embassy in Japan.
I had the pleasure of working closely with former presidents, Mr. Hubert Jayakody and Mr. Lalaka Silva, whose commitment is truly commendable.
With the dynamic leadership of the incumbent President Mr. Jagath Ramanayake, I hope the SLBCJ will be able to accelerate its activities and further expand the membership with a view to widening and deepening the trade and economic relations between Sri Lanka and Japan.
I wish Sri Lanka Business Council a great success in its future endeavours

I am very pleased that the Sri Lanka Business Council of Japan is engaged in, supporting and prospering investment and tourism promotion programmes in Japan. The Council plays an important role in expanding business relations between Sri Lanka and Japan. As a gathering of distinguished business leaders with long bilateral experience, this forum also provides members with opportunities to pursue their business aims and future prospects.
In this regard, I am happy that SLBCJ and the Embassy can work closely together on trade, investment and tourism promotion — all measures that bind Sri Lanka and Japan. I take this opportunity to express my deep gratitude to President Jagath Ramanayake and the members of SLBCJ for their many contributions and for supporting the Embassy’s day-to-day work. It is my belief that SLBCJ will continue to strengthen and expand business relations with Japan, and similarly maintain close cooperation and contact with the Sri Lankan community in Japan and with Japanese business friends and acquaintances.
I wish the Sri Lanka Business Council every success in Japan, further expansion, and a still firmer foundation for its important work.
