More training opportunities for Sri Lankan youth in Japan [02 April, 2008]
Hon. Dr. Keheliya Rambukwella, Minister of Foreign Employment Promotion & Welfare visited Japan from 2nd – 8th April 2008.
During the visit Minister Rambukwella met with Japanese Minister of Justice, Senior Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and Senior Vice Minister of Health, Labour & Welfare and discussed the wide range of issues relating to employment and training opportunities for Sri Lankan youths.

During the meeting with the Minister of Justice, it was agreed to increase the quota for technical intern trainees from Sri Lanka to be 1000 per annum. The president of Japan International Technical Cooperation Organization (JITCO) informed the Minister that the Ministry of Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare will be recognized as its focal point in Sri Lanka in their future activities.
