Leading Japanese home center company meets with SLBCJ members

We had a meeting with Komeri Co. Ltd. officials at the Sri Lanka Embassy in Tokyo on November 24th, 2010, with His Excellency Charge de Affairs Mr. Asala Weerakoon, SLBCJ President Jagath Ramanayake,Chandana Silva, Ken Watanabe two members of SLBCJ and Vice President Saitama(SLBCJ) Chandika Perera.

Purpose of the meeting

At present, Komeri Co. Ltd. is operating more than 1,000 retail outlets throughout Japan and most of their products are imported from China and India. After the change of the political situation in Sri Lanka Komeri Co. Ltd. has a keen interest of getting down some of their items from Sri Lanka. Object of this meeting was give them brief introduction of Sri Lanka and home center related products in Sri Lanka.
Outcome of the meeting

His Excellency Charge de Affairs explained them with what sort of opportunities are available if they come to do business with Sri Lanka and what kind of support we can offer them if they visit Sri Lanka. We promised to introduce them to relevant government institutions and exporters. Finally, they queried if there are any trade exhibitions of this kind in Sri Lanka and requested to inform them. They are interested in visiting Colombo and get a first hand knowledge about Sri Lanka and the products available there.
