First Exe Committee Meeting of the year and New Year’s Party at the Tokyo Club

The first Executive Committee Meeting for 2013 was held from 4 to 6pm on 25th January at the Conference Room of the Sri Lanka Embassy. Participants included HE Ambassador Karannnagoda, Mr.M.Somasena, Counsellor (Commercial), Mrs.Chitra Algama (PA), Mr.Dammika Kulatunge, Manager Sri Lanka Airlines, as well as many members of the SLBCJ. Among the issues discussed were plans for the National Day Celebrations on Feb 4th as well as preparations for the Presidential Visit scheduled for March, and SLBCJ’s potential role during the visit.

Subsequently, after the meeting, a New Year gathering and dinner was held at the Tokyo Club from 6pm. In addition to the persons present at the meeting in the Embassy, three important guests attended, namely Mr.T.Inumaru - Managing Officer of the Imperial Hotel, Mr.H.Moribe - Senior Economist, Overseas Dept of JETRO and Mr.A.Ito – Gemstone Importer, currently mining in Sri Lanka.

HE Ambassador Karannagoda opened the gathering with warm words of welcome, followed by introduction of the guests and members, and a Toast by Mr.Prince Samuel, Secretary of SLBCJ. During the dinner, participants interacted with each other, and the dinner ended with a speech by Mr.Somasena – Counsellor (Commercial) of the Sri Lanka Embassy.
