I would like to warmly welcome you to the Sri Lanka business council of Japan (SLBCJ). In this website you will find all the information you need to know about our association, objectives, activities and members. We are a non-profit and voluntary organization working in partnership with the Sri Lanka Embassy in Japan and our foundations were laid in 2003 under the directions of the Overseas Business Promotion Program launched by the Ministry of Commerce & Consumer Affairs of Sri Lanka. As a responsible association we aim to develop, expand and encourage bilateral trade between Sri Lanka and Japan. The strong membership of more than 61 Sri Lankan businesses and entrepreneurs operating in Japan forms the back bone of our organization. Our structure is organized as a collaboration of provincial sub divisions. While I lead as the president of the association I am being supported by all the Vice presidents representing various districts of Japan together with the other executive and non-executive members. |

From the past we have been involved in a range of activities to achieve our objectives. In summary we take strong initiatives in organizing and participating in business promotional events and occasions. In the course of this we aim to build ample opportunity for the Sir Lankan businesses in Japan and vice versa. We closely work with the Sri Lanka embassy of Japan for promotion of business and culture of Sri Lanka in Japan. Various cultural activities like New Year festivals, musical shows, and other promotional events are organized to promote Sri Lankan culture, customs and heritage. Our initiative goes beyond business and culture thus we attempt our best to uplift the welfare of Sri Lankan citizens as well, facilitating numerous donations to improve the health, education & social services. Even though our association is quite young the capacity and the potential is unparallel to any other organization in Japan. We continuously endeavor to achieve the best for our Sri Lankan business community in Japan generating the benefits not only for the expatriates living in Japan but for the citizens back home in Sri Lanka as well.
